Established urban congregation of approximately 900 members seeks a worship leader for its contemporary worship ministry. Strong vocal ability mixed with guitar or keyboard talent is preferred, but we are open to other combinations as well. Experience in leading worship is preferred but not necessary.
Our contemporary worship ministry is well-developed and supported, with 15+ years of experience and a dedicated core group of approximately 12 singers and musicians. Our sanctuary is large (holds 800) and is well-equipped for contemporary music with pro backline and monitor gear and concert style video/sound. There is also a Tech Arts ministry team to support the music ministry. The contemporary worship service attendance varies from 100 - 250 and averages 150; the worship team offers 6-7 mainstream contemporary (K-Love / Air One) songs each week.
This position is a part time role requiring 10-15 hours per week spent collaborating with the pastor, planning worship, rehearsing, and leading worship. Our congregation also has a rich tradition of liturgical worship and the worship leader will occasionally be asked to serve our larger music ministry in concert with our choir director and organist.
The primary objective of this position is to provide spiritual leadership for the contemporary worship community through the gift of music and prayer, sharing the word of God and the good news of Jesus Christ through the use of song, multimedia, visual and non-visual performances, to help the congregation and community understand and experience the love of Christ and develop a strong foundation in faith.
