Growing, non-denominational church of 750 in the northern suburbs of Washington, DC, is looking for an exceptional, up-front, full-time worship pastor. We believe that in our post-modern culture, both churched and unchurched are searching for community and spirituality and providing vibrant, creative worship addresses this hunger.
Candidate should be authentic and confident, with a dynamic personality, several years of experience as a worship pastor, proficient in piano and/or guitar, with a proven ability to connect and interact with the congregation during worship. Must be skilled in using diverse elements (music, multimedia, etc.) to convey a message in creative ways. Must be able to make creative decisions during worship that value people over programs. Must be comfortable with a mix of contemporary music and centuries-old spiritual practices of silence and reflection. Must be able to recruit, direct, shepherd and motivate our team of vocalists, musicians, and technical volunteers. Must be able to share church-wide leadership responsibilities, both vision and execution, with other staff in a collaborative environment. Some of the words we would use to describe a successful candidate are: initiator, communicator, breadth, expressive, interactive, flexible, adaptable, spontaneous, attuned to incoming information, open to new experiences.
