Job Duties:
[1] Plan, organize, and carry out musical, technological, administrative, and creative elements for a newly launching contemporary worship service in the Fall of 2010, including preparation of media and implementing it during worship.
[2] Craft engaging order of worship elements to support primary text, topic, and practical application. Understands scripture and can communicate scriptural concepts in worship and rehearsals, can assess theological soundness of lyrics. Open to diverse theological perspectives. Commitment to your own personal spiritual growth.
[3] Lead by example, organize, rehearse as needed, and equip volunteer vocalists & instrumentalists for leading worship (prepare them for excellence when they participate in worship, recruit, retain, develop performance skills, equip, train them musically, care for, schedule musicians and technicians well in advance, motivate, disciple).
Job Knowledge:
[1] Entrepreneurial spirit and vision to create, sustain, and grow a spiritually sound and musically strong contemporary worship service from the ground up.
[2] Strong keyboard and/or guitar skills, along with strong vocal ability, and able to take leadership role during worship as needed to draw others into worship and sense the presence of God. Infectious passion to serve Christ through music in worship, with energy, presence, and drive, and able to engage the congregation fully during worship.
[3] Strong music arranging and writing skills, read lead-sheets, chord charts, and scored music.
[4] Maintain repertoire of familiar songs that have singable range/rhythm, not too complex, and introduce new songs taking care to teach them well.
[5] Familiar with a broad range of contemporary music styles and can work with a broad range of styles that appeal to different generations and people with varying degrees of church background. Well-versed in the trends of contemporary worship and music.
[6] Knowledge of and fluency with a/v and media technology. Knowledge of Pro Presenter and Finale a plus.
Interaction/Supervisors:
[1] Works well and collaborates with the Senior Pastor, church staff, worship teams, to evaluate past worship services and events, and plan and implement future service and events.<
